Websites

The websites detailed below were selected due to content related to Manitoba paddling routes. For information on canoeing and kayaking in general please visit our Links page.

Canoeing in South-Eastern Manitoba

One of the original booklets compiled from Manitoba Recreational Canoeing Association member trip reports. Recently updated in colour and with additional maps by noted local canoeist Charles Burchill

Experimental Lakes Area

A good resource for those visiting this well known paddling paradise in North-Western Ontario. There is a separate link to a basic map of the area which includes some portage markings.

Manitoba Conservation

Over the years Manitoba Conservation has published many paper and digital guides to paddling in our province. Some of this information is contained within park and campsite pamphlets, and it is still available in print form on location, or by contacting the Manitoba Conservation offices at 200 Saulteaux Crescent R3J 3W3 / phone: 945-6784 / toll free: 1-800-214-6496. To issue a comprehensive list of all their publications which contain references to canoeing and kayaking would be problematic but the following are available online:

Parksand Natural Areas, Outdoor Recreation Canoeing. This page provides links to all campground and park pages which contain paddling information in their maps. References to Manitoba's Canadian Heritage Rivers can also be found here.

The following are direct links to some of the park maps in PDF format with canoe routes marked.

Paddle Manitoba Canoe Routes Forum

The Paddle Mantioba Routes Forum is a place to share information and find local route information.

My Canadian Canoe Routes

MyCCR is a meeting place for paddlers the world over to share information, opinion and experiences. Regions and provinces are allocated their own discussion pages and considerable route information can be on Manitoba waterways and trips.

Paddling in Winnipeg

Charles Burchill has compiled an exhaustive list of details related to paddling in Winnipeg and its environs. Urban paddling in Manitoba is much more than just two rivers.

River Journeys in South-Western Manitoba

A great resource for a fascinating, but often under explored, corner of Manitoba. Brandon's Ken Storie has created a website to complement the earlier printed version of his work. This site contains points of history, aerial photographs, and some basic maps.
