Paddle Manitoba organizes paddling outings for the general public and members of Paddle Manitoba. These social evenings provide novices and experienced paddlers with the opportunity to paddle in relaxed natural settings just minutes from home.
Regular outings will be run every Wednesday evening from May through the end of September. Periodic outings will also be organized in various locations around the province at other times.
Wednesday Night Paddles
Slip down the La Salle River and you’ll soon forget that you are in Winnipeg. This dam controlled river provides a great setting for a nature paddle in a park setting. There is a chance to see deer and beaver while learning the fine points of canoeing from your host, Charles Burchill. Unfortunately this year Paddle Manitoba is unable to provide equipment due to theft and vandalism at La Barriere park.
There is no cost to these evening paddles but people that come out as part of the organized outing will need to sign a Paddle Manitoba waiver, wear an appropriate PFD or life-jacket at all times on the water, and bring the minimum required safety equipment (Approved PFD, Whistle (sound signal), Bailer, Throw Bag (buoyant heaving line)).
