Paddling Party and Volunteer Appreciation Night
YOU ARE INVITED
To the First Annual Paddle Manitoba Summer Paddling Party and Volunteer Appreciation Night.
Wednesday, August 11th 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Fort Whyte Alive Adventure Centre, 2505 McGillivray Boulevard
FOOD – A good old fashioned barbecue
FUN – Canoe water polo anyone? Or perhaps some kayak tag, or a diabolical obstacle course. And maybe some games on the ground too!
FRIENDS – Connect with paddlers you haven’t seen for a while. Meet some new water sport enthusiasts.
Cost: FREE! For all Paddle Manitoba Members and those who have volunteered in support of Paddle Manitoba activities. Members and volunteers are welcome to invite along a guest who may not be a member yet but who loves to paddle and to party!
Waterwalker Film Festival
Mark your calendars now for the next big Paddle Manitoba happening. The Water Walker Film Festival will return to Winnipeg on Saturday, November 6 from 7:00pm – 10:00pm at Fort Whyte Alive. As you hang up your PFD for the season, you will be able to enjoy some great paddling films and share a few stories about the summer just past. Look again for more details in the fall.
La Barriere Park Bridge Damaged
Warning
The bridge to LaBerrier Park is seriously damaged by recent flooding. Please use the following directions access La Barrier Park from the South.
- South on Pembina, through St. Norbert and past the diversion dike. Look for the gravel road west to La Salle (Hwy 247, there is a sign to La Barriere as well, and a power substation near the corner).
- West on 247 until Waverly and turn back North. If you go over the dike again you have gone too far.
ELA Trip
When: July 30th-August 2nd
Come join us on an extended long weekend paddle on the ELA lakes east of Kenora. This is one of the prettiest series of lakes in traditional Canadian Shield canoe country. The trip will be for 4 days and 3 nights with portages, so some canoe tripping experience is recommended. We will leave on Friday morning, July 30 and return Monday evening, August 2. The trip will be limited to 6 canoes plus your guides – book early. Participants must be Paddle Manitoba members (see: http://www.paddle.mb.ca/memberships/index.php)but you can join at the start of the trip. Paddle Manitoba also charges $30 to cover liability insurance costs.
